Located in the southeastern portion of Manhattan is the Lower East Side neighborhood. Once known as being one of New York’s most historic working-class neighborhoods, this community has undergone recent gentrification and is bringing in a number of new businesses and restaurants in this community. This Manhattan neighborhood is also under the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which is working to help retain the historic charm of this neighborhood.
